Associate Program


Are you a current college student looking for experience and exposure in the tech/startup world in Miami as part of a paid internship? If so, read on!

The Associate position at Building is a part-time, internship-level, paid role in Brickell. As a Building Associate, you will be exposed to all aspects of running a collaborative workspace for tech companies – including operations, marketing, business development, and events. Daily tasks will vary from answering questions from members, IT troubleshooting, social media management, event coordination, research, and more. In return, you’ll be in the middle of the #MiamiTech scene, meeting leaders and influencers, getting an inside look of what it takes to build and grow a startup (both Building itself, and member companies), and working with a great group of people!

More details about the Associate Program:

  • The Associate will be expected to work 15-20 hours/week, with specific hours varying by week, which will include
    evenings and weekends (for events).
  • In addition to daily tasks, the Associate will be assigned a term-long project that is tailored to their
    specific qualifications and interests. This may be an individual project, or a group project with 1-2 other
    associates. These projects will combine research, strategy, execution, and presentation skills.
  • As an Associate, you’ll be provided with a mentor on the Building staff who will be your main supervisor and
    resource for questions and guidance.
  • The Associate position includes a variety of roles across Building’s three departments (below). While some tasks
    will be shared by all associates (like front desk shifts and day-of event management), others will be assigned
    to individual associates based on their interests and abilities.
  • Marketing/Events-related tasks may include:
    • Marketing planning assistance – including evaluation of tactics and opportunities together with the
      Marketing Director
    • Pre-event coordination – including meeting with potential event hosts (in person and/or virtually),
      communicating status and following up with hosts/vendors to ensure that all details are prepared,
      including documentation of event timeline, budget and requirements
    • Event management (day of) – including host and vendor communications, managing set up, social media
      posting, and being the go-to contact for questions and information about the event or Building
    • Event reporting – including budget and KPI recap
    • Keeping the public and private events calendars up-to-date
    • Social media posting
    • Blog writing and promotion
  • Business Development/Membership-related tasks may include:
    • Answering general informational questions about Building and its member companies
    • Giving tours to potential members and referring them to the right person internally for follow-up
    • Blog writing related to partnerships and member features
    • Helping the Business Development Director prepare for new members moving in and members moving out
    • Helping to maintain a database of current members, their contracts, start dates, and end/renewal dates
      of memberships
    • Helping pull together reports on membership and sales KPIs on a weekly basis
  • Operations-related tasks may include:
    • Front desk shifts – greeting members, visitors, and vendors as needed when our Front Desk Manager is
      unavailable or on break
    • Technical troubleshooting – you will be given full instruction on the AV systems throughout Building and
      be the first-line of assistance for all members and visitors needing help with the systems
    • Member relations – answering questions or performing tasks as requested by members
    • Assist with general reporting and filing – including ensuring that documents, reports, etc browse this site. are
      electronically saved and properly filed

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in entrepreneurship, marketing, business, or another related
    field at a Miami-area college or university
  • Have an interest in the #MiamiTech community and events
  • Are punctual and dependable, and maintain a professional appearance
  • Have excellent communication skills, phone and email etiquette, and people skills
  • Have an innate ability to organize, multi task and prioritize, including under stressful situations
  • Take initiative and proactively adjust based on ever-changing priorities
  • Are familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word – and eager to learn new technologies
  • Have availability at least 1-2 weeknights a week (approximately 5:30pm to 10pm) to help execute events onsite at
  • Are amazing people, no jerks.
